Ya gotta love that fluffy down around the nest. Thanks, I had never seen a Canada Goose nest.

Typically the goose nests we find are down-lined shallow depressions on low stumps out in the water. The geese usually defend their nests and their young quite rigorously. Still, the balance of nature is maintained through predation of the eggs by raccoons and snakes, as well as the loss of goslings to predators such as snapping turtles and alligators. If all the eggs laid were to hatch and all the goslings survive, it would be a very unbalanced situation.
